

It gathers accurate data (as long as you don't have a dog on the bed), but I'm not convinced churning that data through AI models is going to provide any useful insights. I still do not recommend you purchase the Nest Hub specifically for sleep tracking. I'd like to see the price come down a bit, and it could be faster, but it's better than the OG Hub.

The morning routine only runs about one time in ten, usually without so much as an error message. I've been trying to use the morning routine alarm integration, which is supposed to fire the morning routine when I dismiss the alarm, but something isn't working right. I don't expect this problem to be solvable. This has been an ongoing problem, and the only way to address it is to delete the entire day's data. While I'm awake and clearly interacting with my Google account, the Hub believes I'm still asleep in bed because a dog took my spot when I got up. As I write this, some Google server is probably very confused.
If all you want is an accurate record of your sleep, the Nest Hub can do that. It's also very accurate when it comes to tracking bedtime and actual time spent asleep. The Nest Hub is about two feet from my bed, and it's been nudged around on the nightstand from time to time, but it has never failed to track my sleep. I'm still impressed with Sleep Sensing from a technical standpoint. It doesn't have the multi-second lag like the old Hub, but touches are far from instantaneous. While the 2nd Gen Hub is faster than the original, it's still not a very fluid experience. Google seems to want me to interact with the Hub itself to monitor my sleep, but I prefer to use the app if I'm going to do more than glance at stats or toggle a light. The Fit app didn't have a matching notification, and that was far from the only inconsistency. This offer only appeared on the Hub, though. On one occasion, the Hub offered to set up a new sleep schedule based on my data. It's still a lot of common sense ideas like going to bed on time and getting some exercise in the morning. The Fitbit Versa 3 is the most reliable of the many sleep trackers I’ve tried over the years and is currently my personal favorite. That's the same admonition Google was giving me a month ago, and I have yet to see any truly valuable suggestions for addressing it. This tracker is currently one of the pricier ones on the market, but it has the most functionality out of all the competitors. I've been using the Nest Hub every night for the past month and change, and my sleep pattern "looks inconsistent." I can tell you that because the Google Fit app tells me every time I get a new sleep report.
